Onto another location now. Camera retrieved late January, 2012. A wee 4 to 6 pointer gets his picture taken.
A very similar 4 pointer on the same day, if you look closely the top bulbs are different sizes and shapes. These two are probably brothers.
A big hind likes the look of the bait.
Wait a minute, this looks like a different stag again! There's a good spread on that head for a Tararua Stag. This posi is now top secret. Good luck getting it out of the boys!
Ok, this is a bit of "Where's Wally"... How many pigs can you spot? 3 or 4 or more? post your answer in the Guestbook.
How about that for a close up of Velvet. This guy has his patch sorted with a few ladies. Ask JD or Jarod where to find him.
Smile! A couple of Hinds in the dark.
Hmmm.
This yearling thinks its all a bit suspicious
JD sets the bait, a few branches of broadleaf in front of the camera brings them in...
Tui. Not taken by the trailcam.
Another Stag! This one bigger again, a 10 Pointer I think. This wallow is a hot spot. Whoever gets in around here during the upcoming roar is going to have some happy hunting!
Slightly larger stag takes over the camera space...
Great picture of a lightly timbered Stag. There seems to be something unexplainable about this area. We're not sure why they are sniffing the ground but it appears that there is something in the moss as you can see in the next photo...
