Happy ending to missing police dog Thames – found after 7 nights in the bush

Here’s an update on Thames, the police dog that recently went missing in the bush and made national headlines. Fortunately a very happy ending, with Thames being found seven days after becoming separated from his police handler – here’s an update from The Dominion Post’s Caleb Harris:

Cleared by a vet after seven nights lost in the bush, police dog Thames is enjoying his celebrity status and some quality time with his handler’s family.

Thames sat calmly at Constable Mike Wakefield’s side at Masterton’s Chapel Street Vet Centre on Monday after a vet found that, beyond tender feet, muscle soreness and some lost weight, he had survived a week alone on a high, isolated ridge in the Tararua Range west of Carterton remarkably unscathed.

Four-year-old german shepherd Thames was “a bit sheepish” but otherwise back to normal, Wakefield said.
